still nasty weather

Stay warm and toasty my friend :-)
Thanks Raymond, that is about all I can do, stay inside at home.
I know you're still concerned about the stray dog outside and you being warm and cozy. But he/she will survive and live to love another day.
I'm not sure what area you live in. When I came out of the building tonight I was expecting it to be just wet....but there was ice all over the parking lot. Really slick. I drive Big Bend to get home and it was very nerve wracking cause it's all torn up with construction with deep puddles everywhere that can cause a car to hydroplane.

Take care of yourself and stay warm !!!
Hi LBeeze, I live at the northwest most corner of Warren county, but my family lives near Lambert Airport.

It is amazing how much of a difference a few miles one way or the other of hwy 70, can be. I know in "town" (St.Louis) there was mostly rain with a bit of ice whereas out here there was mostly ice with a bit of rain.

You stay safe and warm too
No kidding...a few miles can make all the dif.

I'm working on my temp project off of Highway 44. I've heard for years that the weather follows Highway 44. The two times in the last week that we've had freezing rain it's been worse south of where I live.

Take care and be safe. I hope it warms up enough for the ice to melt so you can be with your family for Christmas.
ouch. does the tow truck not have studded tires or chains? not that that those can fix all ice-induced problems. ouch again. just wouldn't recommend you or your tow truck driver or anyone else calling seattle for advice. yes, stay safe and warm.
not too sure if they have studded tires or chains. I never really thought about them having those things, I just figured a sheet of ice is a sheet of ice and towing a car off of the ditch that is on a hill would not be possible.

Look for someone that specializes in off-road recovery. It's gonna be especially expensive though if you try to get it out on the holiday. Have them come look at it and give a quote.

Have a Merry Christmas in spite of it all!

I guess I should quit complaining about the snow that continues to pile up here...we are at 30 some inches already. But I will take snow over ice any day. Merry Christmas gf, stay warm and safe. The ice will thaw eventually.
Thank you.

I would prefer snow too, the county road service seems to be better about working on the snow out by us than they are when the roads have ice on them. It is really sad that a gravel road is not traversable because of ice and there is not really several inches, just enough to cover all the loose gravel and make it a smooth sheet of ice. It does not help that our gravel roads around here are so packed they are smooth except on the outer edges right by the ditches. heck when we get a bad rain the smooth parts get so slick that it is just like driving on it when it is iced over. Every once in a while the county will get out to this corner and grade the road and put down new gravel. The only good thing about all this is that we do not get a lot of 'extra' traffic traveling on our road just the locals and that is fine by me.
thanks for the idea Tech, fortunately the ice is not THAT bad, just bad enough that we have to wait for it to melt some. it is just the timing that stinks, what with the holiday and all.
