Vet visit update (5/8/09 - meds are working)

Well I took DancerMan to the vet today. He is still wobbly and has limited use of his back legs, but there is no sign of Lyme disease or any other tick born disease. The vet said that his symptoms are very characteristic of a nerve issue. He said it could be something as simple as a pinched nerve. He gave Dancer a cortisone shot and then gave me some anti-inflammatory pills to give Dancer once a day. Hopefully this will be all that Dancer needs.

5/8/09 update: so far the meds are helping Dancer still has a little bit of wobbliness but he gets around much better now and fall less often

We'll keep our fingers crossed...

Let's hope he's okay. Tater has been a little wobbly but her health is okay. She's almost 18 and I saw a dog that was 21 is the world's oldest dog. Gully was 20 so I thought it strange that 21 was the oldest.

Hope the little guy feels better soon. He has a good mommy.

Me too...glad its not Lyme Disease. Hope the cortisone and the anti-inflam drugs help. How old is he?

DancerMan is 9 years old, which is old enough already but he was hit by a car at a young age an suffered sever trauma and swelling on his brain. This has left him with epilepsy and I am sure shortened his overall life span.

Ps so far the cortisone has helped, now we just have to see if the pill that he is supposed to start taking today also help.

I have owned him since he was about 8 week old. He was hit by a car many years ago and almost did not survive because of all the swelling on his brain. They had him on iv's and steroids until the swelling went down. I would go visit him at the vets every day because he would not eat for the techs he would only eat for me. After he healed enough to come home he got better and did not show any of the signs of the epilepsy until he was a couple year older.
